Planetside 2 is in it's beta stage right now (you can sign up for beta for free) but it is soon to be released. Release has not been revealed, but it's sometime at the end of this year. It looks like a really good game, with over 200 players per server/map. It's supposed to recreate a full scale war, with heaps of vehicles (including a dropship that can transport other vehicles!), and plenty of character customization. For more info... umm... well there is a small problem because you have to sign up for the beta and get invited, then you download the game (fairly big and growing with updates) and then you can play. Cool thing is, there are Outfits (Basicly clans. Kind of like Guilds in WoW). Outfits can split into Platoons and Platoons can split into four Squads. A full Squad is twelve players.

WARNING: Requires a really good PC, and by really good, I mean the worst you could probably go is a PC that runs BF3 on Low settings. That good. When you're in a full scale engagement, which is most of the time, you going to need every bit of performance you can get.

One reason I wanted to get you guys involved was because I was in a squad and we were doing awesome (it was like a movie with defending points and forming an armoured column and everything!) so the leader created an Outfit and invited us all to it. I told him about the rules of SmG with multi-clanning and he told me we could team up and make what is unofficially refferred to as a Federation (a collection of Outfits create a Federation, but it's unofficial because it's not an ingame feature. We just stay in contact and stuff like that). Would be really awesome if everyone could join in because 200 players is like a medium/low populated server.

By the way, when I said 200 players, I didn't know how ambitious the guys at Sony Online Entertainment were. This is currently unconfirmed, but as far as I've heard the maximum capacity of a server is either 900 or 1000 players, which means either 300 or 333 players for each faction (there are three factions: The Vanu Sovereignty, The Terran Republic and, my personal favourite, The New Conglomerate).

They were ambitious in making planet side I in the first place, seems like you have to pay 40 usd go try beta now i think. Anyway, looking forward to the game.

Well, I received an email by the Planetside 2 team for a beta game testing. I'll download it tomorrow and check it out, before my computer breaks down from absolute stress -_-
