Re: Check out ma sexy new router
yea it is bottlenecking it... when i was setting it up i saw it needed a modem to run through (my old one didn't) i only have a really old Thomson SpeedTouch modem... How does this look for a modem to go with my new router?

Re: Check out ma sexy new router
1.38 mb/s = 11.16 Mbps <- your speed
56.25 mb/s = 450 Mbps <- router's theoretical max speed
If you have experienced, your download speed doesnt exceed 1 mb/s unless you plan to upgrade your net which approaches the theoretical yield speed and or get cloud's Internet; I don't see why you would need such an expensive router. You also have to consider your wifi adapter in your laptop. Most laptops have a 2.4 ghz band and in rare cases, a 5ghz band. You would need both the 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz band to take advantage of the dual band technology. My high end laptop and desktop has a 2.4 ghz wifi card which has a max speed of 300 Mbps = 37.5 mb/s, while my down speed is 87.41 mpbs = 11 mb/s, which is clearly more than enough to not bottleneck anything. IMO, the E1200 will easily do the job for you, but in the end you're the purchaser and the one to make the decision.
Btw what wifi card do you have?
