Hey hey! We are currently working to get Minecraft 1.4 out around Halloween – the Pretty Scary Update! Until then, have the (near-)weekly snapshot, 12w36a:

A new scary decoration block
The “secret” from previous snapshots is now spawnable
A new mob variant in the Nether
Minor changes to the leather dyeing (the colors will attempt to maintain intensity and not dilute as much)
The “work in progress block” is now called “Beacon” and can be crafted
Carrot on a stick!

Annotation for the main features:p

Decoration Block - Heads: Heads will be used a decorative block. Variants include skeleton, wither skeleton, zombie, human and creeper. These are extremely rare drops when killing the respective mob.http://i.imgur.com/01GWe.png(image released by Jeb few weeks ago)

"Secret": New mob boss (Wither). Throws explosive Skulls that cause "wither" effect.Attacks all friendly mobs. Can be spawned by making a vertical t shape (like the iron golem) with soul sand, and 3 wither skeleton skulls on top. Wither skeleton skulls are dropped by Wither skeletons, extremely rarely.

"New Mob": Wither Skeletons, that spawn exclusively in the Nether.

"Beacon": Gives perks of bonus to players that are around its radius area. Requires a new ingredient: Nether Star that is dropped by the Wither mob

Uh kinda.. A snapshot of minecraft is like a preview of the features that are most probably going to be in the next update (1.4) released by mojang every Thursday (Swedish time) night. Mojang does that to get review from users of what they think before they actually upload the official update

To sum it up, a pre release of the next release xD

Yup. The normal white skeleton which holds bows and shoots arrows. Then there's the wither skeleton which is 2 and a half blocks high, in black, holds a stone sword, which spawns in the Nether.
