Regedit not working

So when I go to start and type in run. I click it and I type in the box to open a program Regedit. I than click run and nothing happens. I am trying to accesses to Regedit so I can get my taskbar to look like windows vista. But for some reason it does not work.

You guys know the problem or a way to fix it.

Re: Regedit not working

I have heard of spyware or malware disabling access to certain system programs. That MAY be the case. I highly doubt it though.

Have you tried accessing it in Safe Mode?

Re: Regedit not working

As Nero said... Spyware and Malware can disable it... Now here is some bad news... That is the only way that it can stop working... You have Spyware or Malware... I recommend a thorough scan on your computer or if plausible, a system restore to before you may have got the virus... I have had this happen so many times to me before but of course I have known and ran a system restore to fix it... good luck

Re: Regedit not working

Ray, even if you did that, the malware would still disable it.

Safe Mode would be the best way to get to it, if the malware didn't infect it too deep. Standard malware usually don't go deep into the machine as Safe Mode infection, but it's possible.

Re: Regedit not working

Start PC as Safe mode
Get Spybot Search & Destroy, Update it and scan PC
Maybe also do a Antivirus scan.

Restart and try again.
