I've used wireless USB dongles.

But, Im not sure if you want to use WiFi on a desktop. I've done it before with lower perforamnce.

He could mean 2 things, a router to broadcast a WiFi signal from his modem, or he could be saying that his new computer does not have built in wifi chip, so he needs a wifi USB connector, i got a Belkin because my stupid eMachine doesn't have built in wifi :(
