On legendary difficulty? I played Library recently( so that my Halo levels are unlocked -_-) on Heroic. I died a couple of times, but that was more due to playfullness over difficulty.
The problem with the AR is its range is too short and in the corridors you require another weapon.

During the times the Flood hoard towards you need some nades.

I did alot of backing up, trust me, it took me almost two months and 3- week long rage quits to do that. Im not saying it was easy. But Impossible? No. Hard as hell and you have to get lucky with which flood spawn and where? Hell yes.

Well about ammo I wouldn't really mind but considering how useless the AR is against flood would be a big deal.
#Vader I completely disagree with u. For me the flood levels were the easiest but killing a random elite that jumps or simply gets u no shileds in 3 shots is hard. Noob combo works well plasma pistol + pistol ;)

Them you missed out, halo 1 campaign was one of the best. Hardest too, specially flood levels on legendary.

The hardest based on general public opinion and review sites is either Reach or Halo 2. (Halo 4 campaign wasnt accounted for)
I find Halo 2 Campaign even on Heroic much MUCH harder than Halo 1 Campaign on Legendary.
Agreed though, halo 1 campaign was a really great experience.

The Halo Reach campaign in my opinion is better.

Halo 3 after, than Halo 2, than Halo.

Halo ODST was ok.
Halo wars....boring
