ummmm..... not true bud they are having a government shut down due to the fact that a budget cannot be agreed upon. government shut down = all non essential agencies will not work. but some will still continue on. ie. the postal service. things that will shut down is stuff like national parks and the Smithsonian. until a budget can be agreed upon.

well yes and no what the problem is that the republicans want a more drastic change on the budget than the democrats would like since the house of reps is held by the republicans and the senate is held by the democrats they are at a stand still. so yes the debt has a lot to do with how each party wants to have the budget it really the fact that there is no budget at all right now. does that make sense?

and still unless you are getting social security there wont be much affect on you. (and social security checks will only be a few days late)
the only real effect you will have is the irs is considered a non-essential part of the federal government. so your tax returns will take a little longer to get back. (and yes you still have to have your income taxes in on time on april 15th.)

Okay, first off that last sentence was uncalled for (in the first paragraph) and attempting to read my mind n the second was amusing.
Second, the whole thing was triggered by the debt. Debt was the sole reason for this shutdown. The stalemate was caused by the unwillingness to see compromise between Deocrats and Republicans.

Debt-->Stalemate + Matts Pot forest = Federal shutdown @ 12:00am

that would mean that we would have no military. postal service. police officers. fire departments. and on and on thats all.
