Recruiters rarely get beaten in a tryout, I've done 30+ tryouts getting close to the 40 mark now and only 2 recruits have beaten me, they don't have to win to get in because then the clan would have like 10 people, they have to show that they're worthy of join and that they're not a complete noob.

More than 80% recruits are no challenge to the recruiter. Personally there has been only one tryout, which was actually challenging, although I have had close scores in a few others.
