this becomes an easy double equation. a=2b as well as a=3c
you can also model it out. give Swimmer A three parts, Swimmer B two parts, and Swimmer C one part. This makes Swimmer A three times more likely to win than swimmer C, and twice as likely to win as Swimmer B. The question asks what is the probability that B or C wins. Following the model, there is a 50% chance that either Swimmer B or Swimmer C will win.

Re: Help

A + b + c = 100
A + 1/2a + 1/3a = 100
11/6a = 100
11a = 600
A = 600/11
2b=600/11
3c=600/11
B+c = 300/11 + 200/11
Simplify and u get ur answer

Re: Help

Is that the answer?
Cuz chances of A are twice of B and thrice of C acc. to teh question, but the answer doesn't seem to satisfy the condition IMO

No it's right I was just using %'s. in fraction form it would be 6/11 for a 3/11 for b and 2/11 for c
