UGHHHHHHHH my friends iPod is all fucked and i need some help. Preferably someone who is into iOS jailbreaking like myself.

Well hes got an iPod 2nd Gen MB model, and he had 4.2.1 on it, i couldn't find the right jailbreak for that OFW, so i downgraded with the SHIFT click method on iTunes to 4.1 and used greenpois0n to JB that. Well now fricken Cydia is acting up. Depending on the wireless network, Cydia either does one of two things. a) on my wifi, Cydia tries to install jb applications then crashes to the apple logo and restarts the phone: b) on the schools wifi, trying to install Cydia gives me red scripting saying (and im paraphrasing) that it cant resolve the host from Cydia. Its not just one Repo though, i used IHR and it didn't work, then i tried ModMi and that didn't work either. I think i should try saving the SHSH blobs and updating, then downgrading back to the jb, and see if that works. If not, i may have a bad install of Cydia and could try a different OFW, or CFW or maybe go with redsn0w. Truth is i dont want to mess around with this thing for more than an hour, so what do you guys think.

Somone is probably a hacker and acting like as if he is Cydia but actually isn't. In this case if Cydia is acting all funny than it is a fake, which means it isn't actually Cydia but an impostor. But im not 100% sure it is a fake. Try reboot or restart the phone so that the Cydia and other downloaded apps are erased and re-download Cydia from redsnow, it is the most safest site that i know for jailbreaking because my friend jail broke 21 ipods and iphones in that site and nothing is acting up in the phones.

Cydia is an alternative app store that allows installation of unsigned code in the form of tweaks and apps (its basically an app store with apps and stuff that apple hasn't approved of) Redsn0w, Greenpois0n, Spirit, Limera1n ect are Jailbreak tools, which when your device is in Pwned DFU mode (Device Firmware Update; meaning it will accept any IPSW [firmware version] and install it: Pwned DFU means that it will not check that it is a signed (official) IPSW from apple.) and alters the OFW (official firmware) to a firmware that will allow unsigned apps and code to be installed and executed. (CFW - custom firmware)

Cydia comes with every Jailbreak, whether it be Redsn0w or Greenpois0n. Alloy its not possible for some hacker to pretend to be Cydia. It doesn't really work like that.

Regardless, thanks for trying to help me. I really dont want to spend all night on this thing. Its just its not that simple as a fake cydia or something.

yes, i haven't been able to install unsigned coding at all.

Do MB and MC 2nd gens have different IPSW's? I dont believe so but my brains killing me from three tests today.

Well i was talking about MB and MC. What else has that nonsense but the godamn ipod touch 2nd gen. Damn jailbreaks nightmare, the MC 2nd gen is.

Upgrade again...and this time save the SSHH before jailbraking just in case. Also I'll tell you to verify the source of that one...maybe it's corrupted or it's not correctly scripted. I always prefer redsnow so that's my suggestion. For me it looks like when the jailbrake was patchin it may have failed leading to these malfunctioms.

Also...Do they keep signing that old firmware???? xD
