How do you Xerath?

You mean like play him?

Just keep spaming your q from safe distance and sometimes e then q to stun him. You could also use your ult after you landed your e on the champ your facing against. He's more of a ranged harasser than a champ that could secure kills. But what i usually do when im xerath is that i ask my jungler to come and help me gank the mid champ im facing, he hides in the bush and what i do is e than q to stun him, than i use my 3 ults on him, and then use w than q if he survived and trying to run away.

Yea his root is interesting. The extra range is sweet for poking and nailing a feeling opponent or picking off someone recalling behind their tower. But you need to make sure your lane is warded or you have full vision of the enemy team or have protection from your team as he is extremely vulnerable. The speed buff when deactivating it is nice to help escape though.
