Who buys a phone from a carrier (bloatware) anyway.

Perfer going to the tech shop and byuing it straight there with no bloatware ;P

Because I can't afford to pay for the phone outright, need the price reduction from a plan.

Re: Tech Talk + AppleVSAndroid

Is it actually a price reduction when you pay $60 a month for 2 years?

Of course you pay more, that's the price of paying in smaller increments over longer time. Loaning works in the same fashion. Just because you can pay $800 over two years doesn't necissarily mean you can pay $200 up front.

Re: Tech Talk + AppleVSAndroid

You actually pay close to 1.5k over the course of 2 years when you could of just payed $700 upfront. I'm happy i bought my gs4 unlocked from samsung so i can easily resell and buy a new phone every year :)

The numbers were just conjecture, and my point still stands.

well most popular phone companies in the US use CDMA for phones rather than GSM(what most of EU uses). With CDMA it's easier to but a phone from the carrier and know that i'll work rather than buying an unlocked phone and hope that it'll work. the US is retarded as far as taking phones from one carrier to another for example an lg nexus 5 from sprint wont work if you try it on verizon and vise-versa even tho their both CDMA.
long story short: Europe is awesome because you can throw your sim card in any phone and it should work where the US is shitty and compatibility sucks.

UZZy correct me if I'm wrong but is compatibility an issue in europe if you wanted to take your phone to another carrier? I think that's the main reason why people buy from carriers in the US.

Yeah we can use any SIMs in our phones here.

Re: Tech Talk + AppleVSAndroid

Sorry for the double post, but Ray is right. The carriers are ripping you off.

Hell, I paid 490€ for my One M8 and pay 15 Euro every month for 10 GB LTE every month and 300 free minutes.
