I should've done this a long time ago as I coded this months ago, and it's quite common on other popular forums, but I think now is the perfect time to do something like this. I'm announcing this now because I don't want users going to rep staff and then seeing an error page and creating a bundle of help threads asking what's going on.
By default,
staff now have their Reputation "Locked". By this, it means:
- If enabled, their reputation cannot be seen nor edited. Not even by themselves.
- They can no longer give out reputation (that's only fair IMO)
It essentially locks their reputation.
Why have I done this?
Unfortunately, being a staff member on such a big platform like this means staff are going to be flamed and highlighted for decisions they make. This usually comes in the form of negative/neutral reputation slating them for their decisions as a staff member. It's unfair and not right that they sometimes get flamed for purely doing their job, which is the reason why I've locked their reputation. They have the option to unlock their reputation but this is purely based on their discretion.
